MBZ Hosts World Music Days Again!
The General Assembly of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) took place at the recent World Music Days, held between 24 October and 8 November, 2008, in the Lithuanian city of Vilnius, electing Croatia as the host of this festival in 2011.
It was decided that Sweden and Australia wiouldplay host in 2009 and 2010 respectively, whereas Croatia would host the festival again in 2011, only six years after a very successful edition of the World Music Days organized as part of the 21st Music Biennale Zagreb in 2001. The 2011 World Music Days will coincide with the jubilee of the 50th anniversary of the Music Biennale Zagreb.
The World New Music Days (formerly World Music Days) is a major festival of contemporary music which his organized each year in a different country by the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM), an umbrella organization for internationally based composers, performers, promoters and publishers of new music. The only city which played host to the festival twice within a short period of time is Hong Kong, the home town of the ISCM President, Chinese composer Richard Tsang. During negotiations for the 2011 festival, Croatia competed with Estonia.
